Are You having trouble seeing the forests through the
trees?
With the past seven years of
drought, infestation of insects, and the sheer volume of growth . There
is a good chance that your trees and brush need to be thinned.
Why
Thin?
With the lack of moisture,
low snow pack, mild winters, and the threat of insects, the trees in
Northwest Montana are under a great deal of stress. With out the proper
amounts of moisture, the trees have not been able to defend themselves
from insects and disease. The best way to help them is to take out the
dead and diseased trees and allow for proper spacing so that what is
left behind will not have to compete as much for the limited amount of
moisture and nutrients. This will result in a healthier stand of trees.
Are you going
to log my back yard?
NO! We are not loggers.
Although logging can be a efficient way to remove trees and excess
fuels, It often does not offer a finished look to your property. Logging
equipment is very large and not appropriate in and around residential
areas. Large equipment can also disrupt the ground cover resulting in
exposed mineral soil , which leads to control and rehab issues. We try
to minimize all impact on your property and like to be as light on the
land as possible .
I am really worried
about wildfires during the summer, what can Glacier Forestry do for me?
Glacier Forestry was started by a
Wildland Fire Fighter and our main focus is the Wildland
Urban/Interface. Reducing fuels around your home, removing excess trees
and ladder fuels can be the best way to protect your home and family
from the threat of wildfires. This will allow for Defensible Space,
Defensible space is best described as an area that has had the fuel load
and vegetation reduced to slow the spread of a wildfire. Creating this
space around your home can allow for firefighters to do their job;
greatly increasing the chance for your home to survive a wildfire.
Please feel free to call us and let us show you how best to protect your
assets.
Will there be huge piles left everywhere
that will need to be burned in the fall?
Absolutely not!
Although piles are a way to remove the fuels, we do not believe that it
is the most efficient way . Piles are often a eye soar and can be a fire
danger during fire season. They need to be monitored after you light
them, they leave a burnt mess and can even sterilize the soils. Often
after a pile is burnt the first thing to grow from the ashes are weeds.
What will you do with all of the trees and brush?
Here at Glacier Forestry we prefer to put all of the
fuels into a tree and brush chipper, which in turn is blown into a truck
and hauled away to a local recycling center. The finished result is a
yard or forest that is clean and has a natural appearance . Could I keep
all the chips for use in landscaping? Yes of course! We are happy to
place all of the chips in a designated spot for you?
We are planning on selling an undeveloped property, what can
Glacier Forestry do for us.
If your property is free from
excess brush, dead trees, and has a cared for look.; not only will it be
easier to show but could even fetch a higher price.
